Restart your career with us

Since 2021 we’ve helped thousands of people find meaningful employment and we’d love to help you, too. We understand that everyone is different and that a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works. That’s why our fully flexible approach gives you access to a range of services designed to get you in the best shape for work.

The Restart Scheme: what you need to know

The Department for Work and Pensions’ Restart Scheme launched in 2021 to help long-term unemployed people back into work. We’re proud to deliver the Restart Scheme in South Central and in the North West (on behalf of G4S), providing a broad range of support including help with job applications and interview preparation, assistance finding local vacancies, online tools and much more.

Our experienced and passionate team are here for the long haul and are able to support you for up to 12 months. That gives us the time to understand your needs, circumstances, goals and aspirations to help you get the right support.

And our support doesn’t stop when you find work. We provide an ongoing in-work service to help you settle in, overcome any challenges and generally make sure both you and your employer are happy. If things don’t work out, we’ll do everything we can to help you secure a new role.

Our service includes:

  • A dedicated employment adviser
  • Specialist recruitment advice
  • Access to local employment opportunities
  • Ongoing assessments to understand your needs
  • Access to our online career portal – the Fedcap Hub
  • A range of personal support from local and specialist services
  • Financial health support and budgeting
  • Business start up and self-employment advice
  • Skills support and training
  • Improved job searching skills
  • Access to our Wellbeing Support team

Restart Scheme FAQs

Jobseekers who are claiming Universal Credit are referred to us by their local JobCentre Plus Work Coach. If you want to find out more,  contact your local Jobcentre.

Once you have enrolled on the Restart Scheme, you will be allocated an Employment Adviser who will assess your personal circumstances, experience, goals and areas of interest. From there you will receive help to update your CV, receive interview training, gain access to skills training and even receive health and wellbeing support.

The time it takes to secure employment will depend on a number of factors such as the vacancies available in your area, your existing skills and qualifications, and the time you are able to commit to working with your adviser.

Finding work can be challenging and can take time. Whatever happens,  rest assured that we are here for you for up to 12 months. In that time we can provide you with the skills training, advice and support you need to prepare for a new opportunity.

Don’t worry, we won’t go anywhere. Our in-work support service is designed to check in with you and your employer to help you settle in and find your feet. If your new position presents you with any challenges, such as new childcare issues or travel problems, we’ll do our best to assist.

We’ll be on hand to help you find a new opportunity that is better suited to you.

Establishing a healthy work–life balance

At Fedcap we understand that health and wellbeing plays a big role in helping you achieve your goals in life. After all, being at your best will always make you more appealing to a potential employer.

Every day we see how important a positive outlook and general wellbeing is to an individual’s quest for work. That’s why we’ve built a team of in-house health practitioners including fitness experts, occupational therapists and mental health professionals who can work with you to improve your confidence, motivation, energy levels and happiness. So, when the perfect opportunity comes along you’re ready to grab it with both hands.
