Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS)

A voluntary six-month programme designed to help you get back into work

Get back into work
Providing you with tailored support to help you find a job

Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) is an expansion of the Work and Health programme and is fully funded by the Department of Work and Pensions and co-financed by the European Social Fund. It is a voluntary programme which was launched in October 2020 in response to increasing unemployment as a result of Covid-19. The programme offers support for up to six months for people who have been out of work and in receipt of benefits for at least 13 weeks.

We are currently delivering this programme across Reading, Slough, High Wycombe, Newbury, Bracknell, Chesham and Maidenhead.

We know everyone is different and a “one-size-fits-all” approach doesn’t work. So, each customer's journey might look different to someone else’s. Our service is fully flexible to meet everyone’s needs.

Our teams will:

  • provide you with a dedicated employment adviser who will stay with you every step of the way

  • complete a tailored personal assessment to identify your career goals, support with developing a return-to-work plan and also assist with accessing additional support you may require (for example mental health, debt, housing, and so on)

  • review and identify any new career options – we'll ensure that you gain sector-specific training and the necessary transferable skills for your new chosen career

  • provide support with job searching, confidence building, undertaking virtual interview preparation, CV and covering letter development and e-learning

  • give you the opportunity to upskill - in addition to running our own workshops, we also work with a number of other providers to further support our customers with obtaining additional qualifications (for example CSCS Card, Food Hygiene, SIA Licence, IT Qualification and Mental Health First Aid Training)

  • provide support with self-employment - we have a dedicated self-employment adviser who will provide you with the tailored support and coaching you need. The support on offer also includes help with developing your business plan, setting up your business, creating marketing materials and providing support for the first six months from the start of your business.

  • give you access to our free online budgeting tools to help you manage your finances

We appreciate that the last few months have been extremely difficult for most of our customers so we have a team of health and wellbeing experts on hand to support you with any anxiety or other mental health issues that are holding you back from finding employment.

We understand that starting a new job can be a scary experience for some of our customers, especially when they had been unemployed for a long period of time. So, once you are in work, we'll keep in touch with you to make sure everything’s going well. We’ll be on hand to answer any questions and to support you with any challenges you might face. In addition to this, we also offer financial support for travel, clothing, funded qualifications and assessments, work tools and DBS checks.
